Calibration breakthrough in NIR analysis

Freetune is a new proprietary software package replacing the model-based NIR calibration techniques. This technology is field proven within the petroleum refining industry. Freetune surpasses other techniques by accurately quantifying properties without the need for model maintenance and fine-tuning - even when frequently changing crude!

These results are achieved through a two step process. First, PLS regression is used to build a localized sensitive model, based on a small number of samples. Second, a proprietary software program processes the model, together with an application specific plant data, to accurately quantify the properties.

Freetune main characteristics

  • Freetune reaches guaranteed performances comparable to those of ASTM within just a few days after startup.
  • Freetune includes guarding and correcting mechanisms to maintain the long and short-term accuracy required for confident close-loop process control. This is true even under extreme operation conditions of the processing unit.
  • Freetune operation and the logic behind the technology can be easily handed over by a short training session to the process operators. No chemometric or chemical engineering background is required to maintain the analyzer.
  • Freetune technology is generic and can be utilized in any required application in the plant.

The Freetune program can be utilized with the Beacon 2000-II System
or an equivalent high performance NIR spectroscopy system

    Examples of Freetune benefits

Example 1: Quickly reaches guaranteed performance in an Isomerate application.
Freetune requires minimal commissioning time.

Example 2: Accurately traces process variation in a Diesel application.
Freetune maintains high performance even when crude change.
